Gladiator Remastered Rumour

Gladiator Remastered Rumour

Below is a rumour taken from digital bits (the website predicted Armageddon & Saving Private Ryan releases which have now been confirmed).

The Digital Bits, quoting industry sources, is reporting that Paramount Home Entertainment, in cooperation with Universal Studios Home Entertainmment, will re-issue Gladiator on Blu-ray later this year, using a brand-new 1080p transfer that was just completed "a couple of months ago." Bill Hunt says this was done "after Paramount and Universal realized how bad the first one was, naturally."

Again according to the Bits' sources, the studio plans to schedule this Blu-ray rerelease for late summer or fall, to coincide with either the theatrical or (more probably) the home video release of Ridley Scott's Robin Hood, and possibly labeled as a 10th Anniversary Edition.

Now this is relevant for the US but with a big release like gladiator it's hard to believe that Paramount won't relase it in the UK aswell. This annoys me as i bought gladiator but the day this is confirmed i will sell my copy on ebay & grab the remastered version when it's cheap enough.

And of course, they will give a refund or a trade in to all of the people who bought their dodgy first blu ray release, naturally.

They do actually offer trade in scheme's in the US but never seem to offer them outside the US (they did it for the fifth element)

Flippers. They were great, weren't they? :-)

I remember buying Deep Blue Sea on DVD when I got my first player in 1998/1999 - that was a flipper and it was in a crap cardboard snapper case. Why did they put them in those crap cases?????

I was under the impression that Dune isn't going to be a flipper here
