3D Blu Ray has arrived!

It may have escaped your attention, what with exploding volcanoes and general election shennanigans, but yesterday saw the long awaited release of the first 3D TV in the UK. The Samsung UE40C7000 is a 3D ready 40″ LED TV. Retailing at £1799, its certainly not cheap – especially since you also need to buy the active shutter glasses seperately (at a cost of £149 for 2 pairs). But fear not – for that £149 investment, you also get the one and only 3D Blu Ray thrown in (Monsters vs Aliens)!! But of course, you will need a 3D Blu ray player to play this one and only 3D Blu Ray – and salvation comes in the form of the Samsung BD-C6900 3D Blu ray Player. Or wait a short time – the PS3 will have a firmware update which will make it compatible with 3D gaming and Blu Ray. Hooray to Sony!

I’m not sure if any of you share my excitement for the upcoming 3D revolution, but I’m wetting myself in anticipation. Having only recently been introduced to real 3D at the cinema when I went to see Avatar, I just can’t wait! And Samsung are first out of the blocks with the BD-C6900 3D Blu Ray player. I’m not 100% sure on specs at this time, but it DOES come with an ethernet connection, which suggests that it may well be profile 1.1 enabled. So if you want a no-nonsense cheap-as-chips player, this may be the one for you.
