We have good news, we have managed to negotiate a better deal which means the site can now cover its hosting costs. So we are officially back!

Thank you for all of your kind messages!

Site Update – A farewell from CBM

Almost 10 years ago, an innovative bargain community was born, CBM, focusing on a fantastic new technology called Blu Ray. 10 years later, we have helped save hundreds of thousands of people many millions of pounds on their Blu Ray purchases.

But all good things must come to an end. The world has changed, and sites like ours can no longer compete with the cash-back sites and changing viewing habits. We were never interested in becoming rich from CBM; as long as the site covered it’s hosting costs then we were happy to continue. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Despite tens of thousands of price searches using our price comparison tool every month, and hundreds of daily unique visitors, we can’t even cover our monthly hosting bill. It’s disappointing when we provide the price search technology, only for the user to then buy through a cash-back site. We get a few pence for every item you buy through the links on our site, and we rely on that revenue to cover our fairly substantial costs.

So, it is with regret that CBM will soon be no more. We are immediately halting our advent competitions, and serving notice on our dedicated servers. So feel free to continue to use our price comparison for the rest of December, but we expect to be offline early January 2016.

So, thanks for the ride people, and particular thanks to StevieTee, my original partner in crime and site developer. It’s been emotional. Over and out.

Wilko and Hardstep.

Merry Christmas!

Where has 2014 gone? It’s been another tough year in the world of Blu Ray bargains but yet again our loyal readers have kept us going!

A sad year, as we lost one of our founder owners, StevieTee, who has been with us since our inception back in 2006 – Steve has moved on to new challenges and we wish him all the best! But in his place we have gained Nick (HardStep).

All the very best for 2015 from all of us here at CBM, and I hope Santa was good to you 🙂

Wilko, HardStep and StevieTee.

Site Changes!

We would like to welcome a new member to our site administration team – Hardstep (Nick) joins us today and will bring a whole new “mojo” to the site. We fully accept that we have neglected CBM lately, and we intend to fix that with a sense of renewed enthusiasm.

StevieTee has left the team with immediate effect due to other commitments; I’d personally like to extend my sincere thanks for the years of loyal service that Steve has given the site and wish him all the best. Thanks Steve!

Wilko.

Apologies…….

It’s been a while since our last post on here, and I think we owe you an apology. Both Steve and I have had work commitments that have kept us from giving the site the attention it needs lately, and for that we are very sorry.

We are looking at options to allow us to get back to offering you the high level of service you’ve become accustomed to – so please bear with us while we work on this! We are still around and we intend to be here for a long time to come.

Thanks for your continued support!

Wilko and StevieTee.

Amazon Update

Amazon today changed the terms of their “Super Saver” delivery. Previously, DVD’s, Blu Ray’s and games were exempt from the “£10 minimum spend” threshold for free delivery. Now, unfortunately, EVERYTHING under £10 is subject to a delivery charge and no longer qualifies for the free super-saver delivery. Items above £10 still qualify as before.

What are your options? Well, firstly you can top up your order to the £10 threshold by finding a cheap filler item. Not ideal if your item is £4 or £5, but a possibility if your item is £9.

Otherwise, you could opt for the Amazon “Prime” – this is £49 per year but gives you unlimited free next day delivery, amongst other benefits.

Not great news for the casual Blu Ray buyer, but we should see the price of lower-cost items drop as a result, so it’s not all bad news.

Merry Christmas!

Well, another year is almost over, and hopefully everyone is settled with a Christmas drink in your hand ready for the big man’s arrival tonight.

Things are tough in the bargains world, but yet again the loyal support of our readers and followers has kept us afloat, and CBM continues to bring you the very best Blu Ray bargains into 2014 and beyond.

Merry Christmas to you all, and may you and your families have an amazing 2014!

Wilko and StevieTee.

Site Outage – resolved

As you may be aware, we have been offline for a couple of days due to serious server issues. But after a lot of hard work, we are BACK!

Our forum is still down, I am currently working on bringing that online over the next few hours.

Thank you for your patience!

1000 Facebook Likes!

Today, CBM reached a huge milestone – we notched up our 1000th “like” on Facebook! Thank you to everyone who supports us, via Facebook, Twitter, our Blog or our RSS feed.

So, to add to our 1000 Facebook likes, we now have 569 Twitter followers, and 2333 RSS followers, making us the largest dedicated Blu Ray site in the UK. Thank you all!

And if you don’t yet follow us on Facebook, you can do so HERE, or you can sign up to our daily RSS email HERE

Blu Rays under £5

Many of you may be aware of our Advanced Search feature, that allows you to search for Blu Ray bargains by price range or retailer. If you’ve never used it, or didn’t know it existed, check it out – the following link will show all blu rays available for under £5 at all retailers.

Some decent titles in there. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment. To our knowledge, no other UK website offers this advanced search functionality, so spread the CBM word by using our Facebook “Like” on this post or in the box to the right of the page. Thanks for your support!

Technical Issues

Some of you may have noticed that we’ve been having a few technical issues with the site over the past couple of days.

We’ve now resolved the cause of the instability. Thanks for your patience during this period.

New Site Feature

Summer is gone, our final few days of sunshine are now giving way to rain and forecasts of October snow. So it’s time to turn our thoughts to Christmas – October officially signals the start of “Silly Season” when it comes to Blu Ray releases. So, to make it easier to track the essential new releases and pre-orders, we have introduced a “Pre Orders” section to the site.

All of the scheduled releases will appear on our Pre-Orders page, with direct links to our price comparison pages to ensure you get the very best price. Let us know what you think of the feature using the comments link, or by visiting us in our forum.

The Pre-Orders page can be accessed via the link at the top left hand corner of the home page, or by going HERE

Happy New Year!

2010 is gone, and quite frankly, I personally won’t miss it – it wasn’t a great year from a personal and business perspective. So, lets look forward to a prosperous 2011!

The site has grown significantly in the past year – we’ve added a few new features, and also additional sites into our portfolio. We now have sites dedicated to DVD price comparison, comparing PS3 Games prices, comparing XBOX Games prices, and comparing Wii Games prices. These sites are all available from the navigation bar at the top of each of our sites.

We have more plans for 2011, and hopefully we can cement our position as one of the top Blu Ray resource sites in the UK. And of course, we couldn’t continue to do it without the people who matter – the people who contribute in our forums (a particular thank you goes to our moderator, ADSL Dave!), and of course every single one of you guys who follow our blog and facebook/twitter pages!

Happy New Year to all!

Merry Christmas!

merry christmas from CBM

It’s getting towards “pub time” here at CBM Towers – the presents, beer and food is bought, the cards have been delivered, and all that is left to say is a big thank you to everyone who has continued to support the site throughout 2010!

So, have a great Christmas and a fantastic New Year!

Best Wishes, from John and Steve (Wilko and Stevietee)

Featured Movies Pages

Some time ago, we launched some new landing pages to make it easier to browse and compare prices of Blu Ray boxsets and collections. At the top of the site (underneath the logo) are a number of links – “Boxsets” is a collection of TV and movie related boxsets, “Collections” brings together movies from a specific genre or franchise for ease of comparison, “Steelbooks” is a work-in-progress collection of available blu ray titles, and “Featured” is a collection of recent blockbuster releases and pre-releases.

If you haven’t yet visited our landing pages, have a look and let us know what you think – we are adding new content almost every day to make it comprehensive. Feel free to give us any suggestions and improvements!

Competition Winner Announced

We have finally chosen a winner for our Toy Story Blu Ray competition! Drum roll please…… The winner is:
